James "Jim" Hanson, 85

James "Jim" Hanson, 85, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on March 26, 2024, in Boise, Idaho.

He was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin, the second of four sons to Lillian and Lloyd Hanson. His family moved to Kalispell, when he was seven. He graduated from Flathead High School, and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served four years. He met Ardelle in Kalispell, at Moose's Saloon. They were married in 1964 and had two children, Ron and Brenda. He worked in road construction/maintenance until retiring from the Flathead County Road Department. After retiring he and Ardelle moved to Boise in 1998 to help care for their grandson. 

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. He was able to bowl his first perfect 300 game in 2011. He loved watching his son, Ron play football, baseball, softball and track, and his daughter Brenda, play softball, basketball, track and cross country. He later enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in several sporting and musical events. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Ardelle; son, Ron Hanson and wife, Karen; daughter, Brenda Staggs and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Bo Hanson, Jamie and Paige Staggs; step-grandson, Mike (Stacie) Herbener; brothers, Marlin (Susan) and Jerry Hanson; sisters-in-law, Darleen Hanson and Renee Berner, Kim (Ronnie) Eagle, and Sue (Ron) Brothen, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and two step-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lloyd "LeRoy"; and nephew, Donnie Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
