Phillips Gallery hosts Helena artist Tom Mostad
Phillips Gallery is hosting a painting demonstration and opening reception for an exhibit titled Going Wild with Helena-based artist Tom Mostad on April 5.
Mostad has a stunning collection of his works in oil that he has planned especially for this exhibit. He has just returned from successfully showing his work in Great Falls during the Out West exhibition during Western Art Week.
Mostad’s works are sought after by collectors across the region. His work beautifully captures the spirit of the animal, and the views that can only be seen for that moment in time, according to the gallery.
“My artwork reflects the natural beauty that is unique to the American West,” Mostad said. “My art captures the wildlife and wild landscapes that have inspired me. The Going Wild Show is the culmination of a 40-year effort to express my never-ending quest to portray the wild spirit of the great place I live.”
Mostad is a lifelong Montanan and has been painted for over 30 years in various media. His art was shown at the CM Russell Museum for multiple years as a part of The Russell Art Auction in Great Falls. In March 2022, Mostad was awarded “An Artist of Merit” at the Out West Art Show, by the Montana Watercolor Society. He is a Signature Member of the Montana Watercolor Society. He participated in the Out West Show and quick draw competition in March 2023 as well as the C.M. Russell’s Charlie March Roundup Saturday Night Auction and Art in Action.
An opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, April 5 from 5-7 p.m. Mostad will be demonstrating his painting techniques at 5:30 p.m. The Going Wild exhibit will remain on view until April 26. Phillips Gallery is located inside the Kalispell Center Mall, 20 N. Main St.
