WTC holds auditions for ‘Death by Design’

| April 11, 2024 12:00 AM

Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions for “Death By Design,” their final Main Stage production of the 2023-2024 season.

Inspired by the brilliant wit of Noël Coward and the intricate plotting of Agatha Christie, “Death By Design” is a hilarious and mysterious whodunnit with a twist. Auditions will be held on April 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Please arrive early to fill out an audition application, fill out a waiver form, and review the script. Please enter through the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room.

It’s the 1930s and playwright Edward Bennett and his wife, actress Sorel Bennett, flee London and head to an English country manor in Cookham after a disastrous opening night. But various guests continue to arrive unexpectedly — a conservative politician, a fiery socialist, a nearsighted ingénue, a zany modern dancer — each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it is left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide, to solve the crime. “Death by Design” is more than an homage — it’s a new classic.

Kim Krueger is the director of this production alongside Malcolm Sharbutt as assistant director. The cast is comprised of four women and four men, ages 20 and older. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the script, it is available at valley public libraries. Rehearsals for “Death by Design” will begin on April 17 with performances on May 30 and 31 and June 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8.
