| April 21, 2024 12:00 AM

Scott Richard Dukelow, 62 of Somers, passed away on Nov. 2, 2023. He was born on Oct. 26, 1961, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from Holt High School in 1980. He lettered in both swimming and football and was the captain of the Holt Swim Team.

A life-long connoisseur of food, Scott began his career working in the kitchen of a drive-in movie theater in Lansing, Michigan. He worked his way through many cooking jobs. For example, Scott was in charge of the bakery at Pistachios for Fish in Lansing. For three years in a row, while Scott was the bakery manager, Lansing Magazine voted Pistachios’ bread as the “Best Bread” in Lansing. Scott moved to Montana in 1999 and eventually became executive chef at the Springs at Whitefish. Scott ended his career as head chef at Logan Health Medical Center. He retired in the summer of 2022.

In addition to cooking, he loved fishing, golf, and shooting pool. He was a long-suffering fan of the Michigan State Spartans and followed their football, basketball and hockey teams. The Saturday following Scott’s death, the Spartans finally won a football game.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Mae (Paetznick) Dukelow, and his father, W Richard Dukelow.

He is survived by the love of his life, Theresa Jam; as well as his brothers, Bruce and Kyle Dukelow, and their respective families.

A celebration of life will be held between 2 to 4 p.m. on May 18, in the back room of the Kalispell VFW Hall (where Scott and Therese met). Finger foods and coffee will be provided. If interested in attending please send an email to kbdukelow@msn.com.
