BrassWerks presents a free concert in the annex of Stillwater Free Lutheran Church Sunday, April 28.

Brasswerks is a unique and distinctive brass ensemble consisting of two trumpets, a flugelhorn,

trombone, euphonium and tuba, plus drums. Their repertoire contains works from more than 70

composers. This versatile group performs light classics, big band, ragtime, marches, jazz, hymns, show tunes, and more. Brasswerks has performed extensively throughout the Flathead for many years

The program will begin with the “Fanfare” from “La Peri” by Paul Dukas. The first half of the concert will also contain a few hymns, notably “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.” Members plan to perform a selection from Hydn’s “Sound the Trumpet.”

A few marches will be performed such as “Liberty Bell” by J. P. Sousa and a great Spanish march, titled “The Golden Ear.”

The second half of the concert will begin with music of the West with tunes from popular TV westerns. The group will then jazz things up with “Big Spender” and “St. Louis Blues.”

The concert closer will be the famous “Buglers Holiday.”

Members of BrassWerks began performing out of a desire to preserve and promote the sound of a small brass ensemble. Members are B.J. Lupton on trumpet, Michael Boreson on trumpet, Mathew Racine on flugelhorn, Patrick Sweeten on trombone, Ben Caudill on tuba, Jeremy Reinbolt on drums and Allen Slater on euphonium.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. While admission is free, a free-will offering will be taken.

The church is located at 1401 Church Dr. in Kalispell.
