Glacier Park International Airport lands another $6 million in federal funding

About $6 million dollars in federal funding landed at Glacier International Airport last week, headed toward its ongoing renovation and expansion project.
The money will fund common-use gate expansion to reduce delays, accommodate more passengers and expanded aircraft operations, according to U.S. Sen. Jon Tester’s office.
The project is expected to be completed in early summer 2026, according to Rob Ratkowski, the airport’s director.
The latest installment was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, a supplemental grant program funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“At a time when more and more folks are discovering all that the Flathead has to offer, it’s as important as ever that we make meaningful investments to meet growing demand and ensure Montanans can see their families and friends, run their businesses, and stay connected with the rest of the country,” said Tester in a statement.
A Democrat, Tester was a prominent supporter of the bill before President Joe Biden signed it into law in 2021.
The airport received $2.8 million at the end of July and another $6 million in March. According to a recent memo from Tester’s office, $19 million has been funded through the $1 trillion infrastructure law since its passage, and that number will continue to grow.
