FRENCHTOWN — Glacier’s Sam Engellant certainly started strong at the Missoula Invitational Monday, firing a 63 at Larchmont Golf Course in Missoula.

Tuesday at Frenchtown’s King Ranch Golf Club, he finished just as strong.

With eagles on Nos. 14 and 16, Engellant shot a 30 over his final nine holes and cruised to medalist honors with a two-day total of 15-under 129.

In second was teammate Torren Murray, who also broke par with a total of 3-under 141. The Wolfpack won the boys team title by 19 strokes and in fact Glacier swept the meet: The girls, behind medalist Kendall Tkachyk, beat Helena High by 12 strokes for the team title.

Engellant was unbeatable, opening with a 63 at Larchmont that also included two eagles (12 and 16) and two birdies on the way to a 30 on the back. He had three birdies on the front as well.

Up eight strokes heading into Tuesday, he fired a 66 in Frenchtown that included two bogeys on the front nine.

All five Glacier boys finished in the top 15, though just four scored: joining Engelland and Murray were Jonah Wynne, Tanyon Murray and Wes Weber.  The Pack was 5-under par as a team, at 571. Missoula Sentinel was next at 590, followed by Butte (632) and Flathead (648).

Dylan Morris had a two-day total of 154 for the Braves, good for 12th.

All eight Western AA boys teams competed, while just four schools had full girls teams.

Tkatchyk had shot the lowest girls’ round Tuesday, 87 and overtook Butte’s Dylan Bartoletti with a total of 175. Bartolletti finished three strokes back.

Wolfpack girls Vaida Cole, Braelyn Ryan, Maggie Mitton and Abbi Townsend all were in the top 15, and Glacier flew to the team win with two-day total of 747.
