Presley, Dorcheus lead Pack past Great Falls
GREAT FALLS — Jackson Presley threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, Kobe Dorcheus ran for a TD and Glacier beat Great Falls High 28-3 in their AA football opener Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
Presley was 14 of 21 passing for 247 yards with one interception. Carson Baker caught a 38-yard touchdown pass, and had three catches for 84 yards. Bridger Smith had five receptions for 95 yards.
Dorcheus had 15 carries for 106 yards, including a 7-yard scoring run.
The Wolfpack, which played in last season’s AA championship game, rolled to an early 21-0 lead. The Bison had a 10-minute advantage in time of possession but managed just 202 yards of offense and never threatened.
“We had the ball four times in the first half and we scored three times out of the four,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said. “The other drive we hurt ourselves with a couple penalties.
“Then they did what I thought Coach (Coda) Tschida would do, and just tried to keep the ball away from us. And they did pretty good at it, in both halves, really. But we had the ball five times with our starting offense and scored four touchdowns. So I feel pretty good about it.”
Bennett said a young offensive front held up well, as did relative newcomers like Baker and Asher Knopik.
“I just want to call out all our younger guys who got their first varsity action,” Bennett said. “The offensive line guys, like Maverick Diede, Jesse Baines, Wille Astle, Wayne Cox. I thought for their first action they played just outstanding. Both fronts.
“Asher Knopik had a great game and showed how good he could be. And Carson Baker — we didn’t use him at all offense last year and he’s pretty special. He made things happen.”
Riley Collette threw for 161 yards for the Bison.
