Prep football: Whitefish thumps Hamilton

HAMILTON — Whitefish quarterback Carson Gulick threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score as the Bulldogs opened their season with a 27-7 Class A football win over Hamilton.

Gulick hit CJ Thew with TD passes covering 12 and 94 yards — the latter making 27-0 in the fourth quarter. Scotty Dalen also hauled in a scoring pass covering 6 yards for the Bulldogs. 

Cooper West threw for 161 yards for Hamilton, including a 36-yard scoring pass to Andrik Valenzuela late. The Broncs were outgained just 361-316, but lost three fumbles. Both West and Gulick threw one interception. 

Thew had five catches for 114 yards for Whitefish; teammate Cooper Akey had two catches for 69 yards and Calvin Eisenbarth had three for 53.

Frenchtown 42, Columbia Falls 12 

COLUMBIA FALLS — Frenchtown quarterback Brody Hardy ran for three touchdowns, threw for another and the Broncs scored the final 28 points of the game to win Friday. 

Hardy had 18 carries for 82 yards, with scoring runs covering 15, 21 and 3 yards. Cole Johnson added 136 rushing yards and a TD for the Broncs.  

Banyan Johnston had a 1-yard touchdown run and a 31-yard scoring strike to Jory Hill for the Wildcats. He finished 6 of 19 for 63 yards passing; Easton Brooks had three catches for 34 yards.  

Frenchtown outgained Columbia Falls 218-7 on the ground and 349-70 overall.

STEVENSVILLE — Tristan Andersen completed 10 of 11 passes for 176 yards and five touchdowns as the Libby Loggers made short work of Class A foe Stevensville. 

All six of the Loggers’ touchdowns came through the air — Ian Thom and Isaac Lamere caught two scoring passes each, and Joel Goodman and Connor Benson hauled in one apiece. 

Goodman had three catches for 79 yards; Lamere had four for 67. 

Defensively Aidan Rose had two interceptions and Boe Miles picked off one pass. 

The Loggers had 299 yards of offense.
