Glenn D. Ott, 86
Glenn D. Ott, 86, was born on May 21, 1938, in Bemidji, Minnesota to Emil and Elsie Ott. He was the youngest of 10 children. The family moved often in his young years, finally settling in Columbia Falls where he completed his schooling.
After high school, Glenn enlisted in the Marine Corp. He later received an honorable discharge. After his service with the Marines, he returned to the Flathead Valley and married Janet Paul. They had two daughters, Tami and Bobbi.
The family made their home in Whitefish where Glenn worked various jobs, including being a "liftie" on Big Mountain on the original chair one until starting a career at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Plant that would span over 30 years. Glenn’s most proud accomplishment in life was the more than 20 years he spent as a member of the Whitefish Volunteer Fire Department, serving several years as chief. He formed many life-long friendships with the men he served alongside. He also served two terms on the Whitefish City Council.
Glenn and Janet later parted ways, and in the 1990s he reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Jane. Glenn and Jane were married over 20 years and enjoyed their retired years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jane.
He is survived by his daughters, Tami (Mike) Filipek of Dayton, Bobbi (Jerry) Rounds of Kalispell, and Julie Anderson of Arizona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, Molly, Tyler, Kari, Devon, and Hanna; and his great-grandchildren, Charly, Mykah, Coral, Aubree, Maya, J.J., Rook, and Henry.
No service is planned at this time. The family will plan a memorial service in the summer.
