Valley Voices hold Christmas concerts

| December 12, 2024 12:00 AM

The Valley Voices Community Choir will present its Christmas concert, Once Upon a Christmas, two times this weekend in Whitefish.

The concerts will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.

The concert will encompass a range of sacred and secular music. Both the full choir of almost ninety voices and two smaller choral groups will perform. Violinist Wai Mizutani will also perform with the choir.

Local radio personality John Hendricks will host the concert as its master of ceremonies.

“This is the second time I’ve hosted a concert for the Valley Voices,” he notes. “Being at the center of a live performance like this, especially with all this wonderful music, is a real thrill for me.”

“I’ve been directing this choir for 25 years now,” says director Allyson Kuechmann. “And this is the largest, most enthusiastic group of singers we’ve ever had. With the terrific selection of holiday music and the great acoustics of the Whitefish center, I’m looking forward to one of our best performances ever.”

The title of the concert according to choir member David Vale comes from the fact that “life and the world can be challenging and chaotic at times.”

“But Christmas provides an anchor and our memories of Christmases past can help us to maintain a stable and optimistic outlook for the future,” Vale said.

Admission to the concerts is free, but a free-will offering will be taken to help with costs.

Both concerts will be at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, 127 Spokane Avenue in Whitefish. Refreshments will be served.
