Woman accused of attacking deputies pleads guilty to misdemeanors
A woman accused of attacking deputies after blocking traffic in 2023 pleaded down her felony assault on a peace officer charge to a pair of misdemeanors earlier this year.
Prosecutors brought Hailey Dawn Gemmrig up on the felony in Flathead County District Court following her Dec. 17, 2023 arrest. Deputies responded to the intersection of East Reserve and Pebble drives for reports of a distraught woman sitting in the road and yelling.
Several motorists who remained at the scene told authorities that they narrowly missed striking her, court documents said.
Arriving deputies handcuffed the woman, identified as Gemmrig, owing to her allegedly erratic behavior. But Gemmrig began struggling with them, ultimately kicking a deputy in the groin, court documents said.
She also "refused to follow officer commands, actively and physically resisted against officers, provided a false last name at one point, and made extremely vulgar statements," prosecutors wrote in the charging documents.
Arraigned in January, she initially pleaded not guilty, but took a deal in May. In exchange for pleading guilty to misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, prosecutors agreed to recommend she serve a suspended six-month sentence in jail for the latter charge and 10 days behind bars for the former.
Prosecutors filed the amended charges on May 13.
Judge Amy Eddy stuck to the terms of the deal at Gemmrig's sentencing, held the same day, and ordered the two sentences to run concurrently. Eddy also gave her credit for 17 days of time served and ordered her to pay $175 in court fees and fines.
