Boys Tip-Off: Northwest A teams win 5

FRENCHTOWN — The Northwest A boys basketball teams made some hay Saturday at the Frenchtown Tip-Off tournament, piling up five wins after just two on Friday.

Polson, Ronan, Whitefish, Libby and Columbia Falls all picked up wins. 

Here’s a brief rundown, which box scores were applicable.: 


Polson 61, Lewistown 43

Cody Haggard’s 13 points led a balanced Polson attack, and he had six of those in the fourth quarter when the Pirates padded out an eight-point advantage. 

The Pirates are 2-0 and have already matched last season’s win total.

LEWISTOWN — Kason Brown 20, Dash Ruff 8, Madden Norslien 7, Connor Miller 3, Emmet Netburn 1, Chaz Walsh 1. 

POLSON — Cody Haggard 13, Holden Emerson 10, Kyson Michael 8, Cason Grham 8, Shaedon Perry 7, Maddox Bird 7, Malakai Curley 6, Jesse Vail 2. 


Ronan 67, Timberlake 54

Laurance Lozeau helped fuel a 26-point explosion by Ronan in the third quarter with three old-fashioned three-point plays. He had eight points in the quarter and finished with 13.

RONAN — Kolby Finley 17, Laurance Lozeau 13, Jhett McDonald 10, Sean Small 7, Wade Qualtier 6, Tayen Edmo 4, Chad Higgins 4, Connor Durgloe 3, Soiuxprixm Qualtier 3. 


Whitefish 73, Stevensville 35

Carson Gulick scored 21 points for Whitefish, leading four Bulldogs in double figures. 

Ryan Conklin added 12 points, while Will Sisson checked in with 11 and CJ Thew, 10. 


Libby 64, Corvallis 31

Ryan Beagle’s 16 points led three Loggers in double figures. 

Aidan Rose checked in with 14 points and Tristan Anderson added 11 for Libby. Beagle and Rose hit two 3-pointers each. 


Columbia Falls 74, Butte Central 65

The Wildcats put four players in double figures, led by Cooper Ross’s 21 points. 

Ross hit four 3-pointgers; Reggie Sapa added 14 points, Bjorn Pedersen 13 and Easton Brooks 12 for Columbia Falls.  

Joshua Sutton hit three 3-pointers and poured in 34 points for the Maroons. 


Hamilton 54, Browning 51

Noah Butterfly scored 12 points after halftime for Browning, but the Indians couldn’t surpass the Broncs.

Frenchtown 60, Bigfork 43

Austin Savik scored 20 points, but the Vikings couldn’t keep pace with a Frenchtown team that got 28 points from Hank Smith and 14 from Cooper Michaud.
