Robert Obie Morris, 85

| December 15, 2024 12:00 AM

Robert Obie Morris, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at his home in Whitefish.

Bob was born July 20, 1939, in Whitefish, to David William and Helen Mae Morris. He spent most of his childhood at the family’s Sunset Knoll Ranch in Whitefish and logging camps. He graduated from Whitefish High School, in the very close-knit class of 1958.

On Sept. 24, 1960, he married Patty Crumley in Whitefish. They spent their honeymoon at a hunting camp in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. They had four children and were married for 53 wonderful years filled with many adventures and celebrations.

Bob served in the United States Army, joining in 1961. He was a member of the Flathead County Sheriff’s Posse for more than 25 years. He drove truck for Royal Logging, Plum Creek, and Hanson’s, often traveling to Canada and back. He was the proud recipient of an award for driving over 1.7 million miles with no accidents. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his time horseback alongside Patty and traveling all over the United States. Later, when Patty’s Huntington’s disease progressed and they were no longer able to ride and travel together, he was a truly incredible caretaker, providing the utmost support and always quick to tell how the Lord was their strength. There is no question that Patty’s success battling the disease was largely made possible because of Bob’s love. Bob was full of many stories from a life well-lived. He never seemed to run out of jokes and was a friend to everyone.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Hedman of Kalispell; sister-in-law, Ginny Ren; son, David Lee and wife, Wendy Morris, of Whitefish; son, Mark and wife, Sherilyn Morris, of Whitefish; daughter, Yvette and husband, Bruce Holler of Whitefish; grandchildren, Casey and Logan O’Neil, Cody and Elizabeth Morris, Jessica Holler, Clayton and Amanda Holler, Courtney Holler, Wyatt and Shayla Morris, and Tim Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Isabell and Denver Medina, Alexis Johnson, Addy Morris, Veronika Holler, Stetson Morris, Skylar Holler, Ingrid Morris, Payton Morris, Teddy Morris, and Elias Holler.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patty Morris; his parents, David and Helen Morris; his daughter, Darcy Morris; his in-laws, Eddy Lee and Lillian Crumley; his brothers-in-law, David Crumley and Doug Ren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at First Baptist Church of Whitefish with a dinner to follow. All are welcome.

We love you Papa Bob and will miss your hugs.
