Skaters dazzle in Winter Wonderland on Ice
Glacier Skate Academy holds a magical holiday event Winter Wonderland on Ice during several shows this weekend at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.
The enchanting show features Glacier Skate Academy’s figure skaters along with a special tribute to Whitefish High School seniors Emma Marlowe and Vaughan Irwin. About 30 young skaters will perform.
The shows are Saturday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 22 at noon.
Four guest skaters will be featured during the performances.
A six-time United States Figure Skating National Competitor and National Silver Medalist, and double Gold Medalist in figure skating in singles and skating skills, Justin Ly will perform. He started figure skating at age 8 and has been skating for almost 20 years.
Ly is currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah and is attending the University of Utah to pursue a degree in nursing.
With over 10 years of professional show experience, Cari Maus has had the opportunity to travel globally with several companies as a soloist, pair, and ensemble skater. She is currently a USFS triple Gold Medalist and coaches full time in Denver, Colorado, sharing her passion and expertise with all ages and levels. She began figure skating in Missoula at the age of 10.
Eric and Brecan Swalm will also perform. Eric is a 12th grader in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and skates full-time with Team Saskatchewan in Regina. He competes in novice men and recently completed all his triple jumps and combinations.
Brecan is in ninth grade in Moose Jaw and skates full-time with Team Saskatchewan in Regina. She competes in pre-novice women and is working on her double axel.
Tickets are $40 for on ice seating which includes a drink, $25 for bleacher seating, $12 for students and ages 5 and under are free. For information, visit glacierskateacademy.org.
