Glacier girls take Missoula City Meet swim title
MISSOULA — Olivia Gibbons and Madeleine McGaughy picked up a pair of individual wins to lead the Glacier girls to a team victory at the Missoula City Meet Saturday.
"These 2 are critical to our team's success due to their versatility,” said coach Karen Bouda. “They will swim all 8 individual events through the regular season so that we can determine their events at the state meet championship."
The Wolfpack finished with 384.5 points, ahead of Missoula Sentinel (285) and Missoula Hellgate (264).
Gibbons won the 100 and 200 freestyle, while McGaughy cruised to first place in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke.
Lucy Melnick added a third-place finish in the 200 IM. The Wolfpack relays finished first in the 400 freestyle and second in the 200 medley.
The Glacier boys finished fifth as a team, with Ed McNeil taking second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 backstroke.
Flathead’s boys finished ninth at the meet.
