Damaged pipe left Evergreen mobile home park temporarily without water Tuesday
Evergreen Water and Sewer District personnel fixed a busted pipe near Mountain View Mobile Home Park on Tuesday.
Workers were able to isolate the vault containing the broken pipe before the main supply required shutting off, officials said. The problem was fixed by 4 p.m.
Residents of the mobile home park, located near the intersection of U.S. 2 and East Cottonwood Drive, were without water for about three hours.
Mark James, field operations manager for the district, said his crew arrived quickly and discovered a heavy covering had fallen underground and broken a PVC pipe.
District officials sent out a shutoff warning to users as a precaution. But before the shutoff went into effect, James managed to close the valve by feeling around inside the flooded vault.
“Twenty-five years of experience helps with that,” he said.
Evergreen’s water and sewer system dates back to the 1960s and is composed entirely of plastic or cement, James said.
