Barbara Namen, 80

| February 4, 2024 12:00 AM

Beautiful Barbara Jean Namen, 80 of Polson, passed surrounded by family and friends at home on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024. Her full life and close relationship with the Lord gave her the strength to overcome every adversity, including her fight against cancer. As one doctor aptly stated, "She's a phenomenon!"

Born in Williston, North Dakota, Barbara relocated to Kalispell. From her first photo to her last she was glamorous and prepared for each day with a zest. She was a lifelong Montanan and spent time in California.

The summer of 1965, Barbara married James Michael Namen. The newlyweds moved to Polson and purchased The Marina. Her love of people inspired her to work with many local and national community service organizations (not surprisingly winning many awards and accolades). After selling The Marina in 1993, she started the next phase of her life.

With a tenacious work ethic, Barbara proved that nothing was impossible. With a constant thirst for knowledge, she furthered her education and completed the prestigious West Point Leadership Course with honors. She led organizations in executive functions. Later in life sold her crafts and gourmet food. She enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing, home renovations, traveling and gardening, which filled her life with extraordinary moments.

As the eldest daughter of eight, Barbara honed her maternal skills before starting her own family with Jim. Her love extended to relatives and friends alike. A common refrain was, “Barbara was my favorite Aunt!” She cherished every moment spent with her two grandsons, who in her eyes could do no wrong and were constantly showed and told, “They are amazing!” Her devotion to all taught everlasting life lessons.

We would love you to join us at her celebration of life at the Polson Community Church at noon on Feb. 10, 2024. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at www.lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com. Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
