Girls Hoops: Wildkats, Lady Pirates win big
LIBBY — Taryn Borgen poured in 22 points, Hope McAtee added 17 and Columbla Falls raced out to a 41-18 lead on the way to a 78-43 win over Northwest A foe Libby Tuesday.
Borgen had seven steals and McAtee filled out the stat sheet with five rebounds and five assists for the Wildkats (9-9 overall, 8-4 in league), who own the Northwest A’s No. 3 seed into next week’s Western A Divisional. They’ll play Dillon in a first-round game in Butte.
Madison Vincent scored 19 points and Kaydence Stanek added 13 for Libby (1-17, 0-12).

WHITEFISH — Rylee Taylor Jefferson scored 13 of her 15 points in the third quarter as Polson defeated Whitefish.
Samantha Rensvold added 12 points for the Pirates (9-9 overall, 6-6 in Northwest A), who made six 3-pointers on the evening.
Bailey Smith scored a team-high 12 for the Bulldogs (6-12, 3-9), who were outscored 18-9 in the third quarter.
Both teams have play-in games Thursday: Polson plays host to Libby and Whitefish will stay home to face Ronan. Thursday’s winners meet Saturday for the right to be the Northwest A’s No. 4 seed into the Western A Divisional.
