The Book Shelf in Kalispell presents a conversation with Shelby Van Pelt, the New York Times bestselling author of “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” and Kathy Dunnehoff, author of “The Do-Over,” Feb. 24.

“Remarkably Bright Creatures,” tells the tale of a “widow’s unlikely friendship with a giant Pacific octopus reluctantly residing at the local aquarium — and the truths she finally uncovers about her son’s disappearance 30 years ago,” according to shelbyvanpelt.com. Published in May 2022, more than 1.5 million copies of Van Pelt’s debut novel have been sold.

Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Van Pelt divides her time between the Chicago suburbs, where her husband is from, and the Flathead Valley, according to shelbyvanpelt.com.

Dunnehoff is an award-winning author and longtime instructor at Flathead Valley Community College. Her book, “The Do-Over,” is a heartwarming novel about second chances.

The free event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at Montana Coffee Traders, 111 S. Main St. in Kalispell. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the authors and get books signed
