Lion boys rule 7-B

ST. IGNATIUS — Caden Vaughn knocked down six 3-pointers and scored 20 points as Eureka held off a second half Thompson Falls comeback 58-51 to win the District 7B boys tournament Saturday.

Tristan Butts added 13 points for the Lions (16-3), who led 28-12 at the half. Braden Casazza checked in with 12. 

Bryson LeCoure led the Way for the Blue Hawks (12-7) with 20 points, 16 coming after the half. Nick Tessier added 10. 

Both teams earned a spot in the Western B divisional which starts on Feb. 22 in Pablo

On Friday Tristan Butts scored 15 of his 26 points in the first half and Parker Bates added 14 as Eureka cruised to the semifinal win.

Rowan Burow checked in with 13 for the Lions who knocked down nine 3-pointers in the game

Jose O’Brien scored a team-high 18 points for the Bulldogs (3-17), who trailed 42-15 at the half.

Aubrey Casazza scored 14 points and Dylan Sharp added 13 as Eureka defeated Plains 60-37 in the District 7B girls third place game Saturday.

Blakely Lakko led all scorers with 22 points for the Trotters (12-10), who fell behind 35-9 at the half.

Kara Stanger checked in with eight for the Lions (11-10), who knocked down five 3-pointers.

Both teams have spots in the Western B Divisional which starts on Feb. 22 in Pablo.

Early Saturday Kara Stanger knocked down a pair of threes and scored 17 points as Eureka defeated Superior in a loser-out game.

Eddye Betts scored 11 points to lead the Bobcats (5-14, 3-7 in District 7B regular season), who trailed 29-26 at the half.

Haidyn Guckenburg added 13 for the Lions (10-10, 7-3), who took control of the game with a 22-5 advantage in the third quarter.
