Colin Murray, 40
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colin Michael Murray, born in Kalispell, Montana, on Nov. 29, 1983. He left this world on Dec. 25, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendship.
He was the cherished son of Susan Barnhart and the late Dee Wayne Barnhart. He chose to adopt the last name of his stepfather, becoming Colin Michael Murray.
He was more than a mere sum of his years; he was a devoted sibling, caring son, proud father, loving husband, and a loyal friend. His sudden departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to resonate through the countless lives he touched.
He was a devoted husband to Rachel Murray, and the greatest dad to their beloved daughter, Harper Murray. His role as a husband and father brought a special brightness to his life, and his memory will forever be a source of inspiration to those who witnessed the depth of his love for his family.
His journey through life was marked by a genuine passion for connecting with people. His love for his family and friends was always paramount. He brought comfort and happiness to all, and his absence leaves a profound loss.
Most importantly, Colin found his greatest joy in spending quality time with his beloved daughter, Harper. Their relationship was special in many ways; storytelling, dance partying to Ed Sheeran, trampoline jumping, snow fort building, nighttime book reading, and endless amounts of playing games. Harper was the light of his life, and he was so proud of his little girl. His legacy will live on in her eyes.
He had a wide array of interests that illuminated the depth of his character. He was an avid skier, fisherman, golfer, wicked dancer and Philadelphia Eagles and Bobcats fan. He embraced life with enthusiasm from the time he was a small boy, and that left an enduring mark on those who had the privilege of sharing in his adventures. One such adventure that stands out to Colin's mom is when he was just 17, and one of millions of teens from around the world to attend World Youth Day in Rome, where he got to see Saint Pope John Paul II.
He attended and graduated college from Montana State University in 2006 with a Business Management degree and remained a proud and devoted Bobcat Alumni. Colin's professional life began in San Diego where he made many close friends.
Rachel and Colin's love for Montana brought them back home to the town they first met. Colin took a job at Wealthvest where he has been a loyal employee for the last 11 years.
Colin's departure is an important reminder to treasure the moments we have with our loved ones. In the wake of this profound loss, let us remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Scott Barnhart and Marc Barnhart; and his father, Dee Wayne Barnhart. Their passing, along with Colin's, leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved them, and their memories will be cherished as a testament to the strength and resilience of the Barnhart-Murray family.
He is survived by his mother, Suzie Murray; his brother, Ryan Murray; his wife, Rachel Murray; his daughter, Harper Murray and numerous extended family members.
A memorial service to honor Colin Michael Murray's life will be held from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, in the Club Room (3rd Floor) of Bobcat Stadium. Please wear Colin's favorite team gear; Bobcats or Philadelphia Eagles.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to an education fund for Harper Grace Murray. Go fund me link https://gofund.me/0f440662.
