POLSON — Glacier swimmers controlled the water on Saturday at the Polson invite bringing home 14 individual victories as well as the boys, girls, and combined team titles.

Juniors Olivia Gibbons, Madeleine McGaughy, and Hanna Vornbrock and sophomore Ed McNeil each won two events.

“These 4 are such versatile swimmers, we can put them in any of the 8 individual events,” said coach Karen Bouda. “It's a big advantage to have the flexibility to move swimmers around."

McGaughy broke the school record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:22.10.

"Madeleine has been working hard on pace sets in the last few weeks,” Bouda said, “so we knew she had the training and the mindset to go after the record."

Flathead senior Silas Eayrs brought home the only victory for the Braves swimmers in the 100 breaststroke. Eayrs also finished third in the 50 freestyle.

The Flathead boys finished third in the team competition, while the girls came home in sixth.
