Author releases historical fiction novel

History blends with an intriguing plot in Kalispell author Kate Fraser’s recently published novel “Do You Really Want to Know?”

The historical fiction novel is based on Fraser’s parents’ Holocaust memories. 

Fraser grew up outside of New York City. A circuitous path took her to Massachusetts, Oregon, and finally, Montana where she met her husband and started teaching. After raising four children, 25 years of teaching fifth grade, and correcting untold piles of essays, Fraser decided to pursue writing and the legacy of her family’s past.

The novel takes place in the early 1940s as Hitler’s noose tightens around Europe, two Jewish teenagers fall in love in Budapest, Hungary, navigating together the many dangers surrounding them. Streets away, a Nazi officer attempts to protect his family from the rapidly changing political chaos. Their stories intersect on a lonely trail in the Austrian Alps with a violent encounter that tragically transforms the lives of two generations.

A book signing for “Do You Really Want to Know?” is Saturday, Jan. 20 from 1- 3 p.m. at the Bookshelf, 101 South Main Street, Kalispell. Refreshments will be served. The book can also be found on Amazon.
