Dustin Schellinger Ohs, 39
Dustin David Schellinger Ohs, 39, was born July 19,1984, to Kristi Schellinger Troutman and David Troutman in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. His life would take him from Whitefish to Missoula, Idaho and California, but he always felt the most at home in Whitefish.
He loved an adrenaline rush and was always full of adventure and positivity. We will smile remembering his wild and crazy antics while skiing and skateboarding. His escapades were many and full of mishaps. Luckily, his curly blond hair, blue eyes, and infectious smile helped get him out of many a debacle. No matter what Dustin was interested in, his heart led him. He was passionate and kind, and he had a deep love for his family, especially his brother, Jesse Ohs. They argued and fought like brothers do, but their love and acceptance of each other always won.
Dustin was officially diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in January 2023. This sparked a renewed sense of adventure and took him traveling to Colombia, South America and Cambodia. There he spent his last months with his dear friend Rachel soaking up the sun and sharing memories and where he chose to end his suffering from this debilitating disease.
He was greeted in heaven by his mother, Grandma Polly Schellinger and Uncle Randy Schellinger, who all passed away from Huntington's Disease; cousin, Brett Schellinger, whom he admired and looked up to as a child; grandparents, Cliff Schellinger, and Bill and Peggy Michaels.
In honor of Dustin, please send donations to The Red Road Foundation in Cambodia founded by Rachel with Dustin’s tireless encouragement and support, theredroadfoundation.org or The Huntington's Disease Society of America 505 Eighth Ave., Suite 902, New York, New York 10018 or www.hdsa.org.
A celebration of Dustin’s life will be announced this spring/ early summer.
