A man turned to the Kalispell Police Department for help clearing the air because he reportedly could barely breathe from someone smoking from somewhere inside his apartment building. This was despite a no-smoking policy, but the landlord was out of town. He wanted officers to get the person to stop smoking inside the building. He was advised that second-hand smoke was a civil issue.

Someone called the police about an upstairs neighbor who was allegedly yelling obscenities at another person. The caller was concerned because a disabled woman lived there and wasn’t sure if she could get to the phone. The caller then heard a vehicle rev and someone yell outside and thought one of the pair had been drinking.

A stray cat allegedly wandered into a man’s apartment and he requested help catching it. Dispatch advised him to let the cat out so it could go home, but he insisted it was a stray. The considerate man said he would care for the cat until the morning and would let it out when it was less windy and cold.

An extra patrol throughout the night was requested in the area of an ATM with a broken door.

Someone was concerned about the ruckus in an upstairs apartment. They reportedly heard arguing and yelling all day accompanied by thumping noises. Officers spoke with the occupants, who turned out to be kids. They weren’t fighting, “just doing adolescent things.”

A gold Honda, a white Dodge truck and a flatbed trailer with a bunch of garbage on it were reportedly abandoned.

A passerby allegedly found a battery-powered Ryobi leaf blower on the sidewalk in front of a church and turned it into the police.

The city Public Works Department was advised about a downed stop sign at an intersection.

A woman allegedly locked herself out of her vehicle with the heater on and her 3-year-old inside. She was able to get her daughter to roll down the window and law enforcement was no longer needed.

A woman reportedly wanted officers' help in getting 15 sleeping bags she hoped to donate to a warming shelter. She was advised to call back when the weather improved and the plows had been through the roads, which were drifted in at the time of her call.

A vehicle with its hazards on and headlights off was allegedly parked at the end of a resident’s driveway, who asked officers to check it out.
