Vivian L. McDougall, 97

Memorial services for Vivian McDougall, 97, of Norfolk, Neb., will be 11 a.m., Jan. 20, 2024, at Norfolk Church of Christ. Jeff Schipper will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at her residence.

Vivian Louise (Oberg) McDougall, daughter of Martin Carl and Alma Olena (Nodsle) Oberg, was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Fargo, N.D. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1944 and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She was placed in a job at the Veteran’s Hospital in Fargo in June 1945, and was employed there for five years.

Vivian married Theodore Keith McDougall and had two children, Jeffrey K. and Deborah K. The family lived in Langdon, N.D., moved to Dresden, and later moved to California in 1956. Vivian worked at Northridge Hospital from April 1, 1958, until April 1, 1988. After leaving Northridge Hospital, she and husband Ted retired to Rollins, where they lived for 18 years.

Vivian enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and pinochle, golfing, quilting and counted cross stitch. She was very involved in community outreach in Montana. She was the secretary of Rollins Women’s Club and Rollins Fire Department. After her husband passed away, Vivian moved to Nebraska where she continued volunteering and serving as an Ombudsman for NENAA, Nebraska SHIIP, and Nebraska SMP.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Debbie (McDougall) Schipper and husband, Jeff Schipper; son, Jeffrey McDougall and wife, Kim (Huey); grandchildren, Daniel Schipper, Kelly DeCamp, Ashley McDougall, and Taylor McDougall; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; brothers, Milton and Curtis; sister, Fern; sister-in-law, Lois; and great-granddaughter, Aliya Acuna.
