Law roundup: Man fired up about smoke
A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report seeing smoke coming from the middle of a school roof and became frustrated when he allegedly thought firefighters weren’t looking in the “right spot.” When dispatch asked him for more information and his name, he said, “It doesn’t (expletive) matter.” After walking through the entire building investigators determined that he was probably seeing smoke coming from the boiler.
A woman allegedly jumped out of a vehicle transporting her to a recovery center.
A youth allegedly stole a bottle containing a strawberry margarita concoction from a grocery store and left in a truck with three other occupants. The youth in security footage was contacted by police and banned from all the store’s locations.
A woman was reportedly quite worried her husband would burn her clothes if she left the house to stay in a hotel for a couple of days after a heated argument. She was also worried that people were coming to the house and she wouldn’t be safe if she stayed after he told her to get out. She was advised to call back within the next couple of days if she wanted to arrange a civil standby to get her clothes.
A concerned parent called the police after their daughter was reportedly beaten up by her boyfriend who stole the clothes she was wearing.

Someone was concerned about a dog sitting on a front porch howling and whining. The dog owner was contacted and they said they would let the dog inside.
