Valley Voices Community Choir begins spring season

| January 18, 2024 12:00 AM

The Valley Voices Community Choir begins its spring season on Monday, Jan. 29, at 5:30 p.m. in the choir room of Flathead High School. And this season, they’re doing great themes from the movies.

Among the songs on the program are “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic,” “When You Believe” from “The Prince of Egypt,” “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” from “The Lion King,” and “Dancing Queen” from “Mama Mia.” All together, the choir will do 16 songs from the movies.

Composed at last count of over 70 members, the choir is open to everyone who wants to sing. Concerts this season will be the last weekend of April.

“We are a community choir,” says its director Allyson Kuechmann. “We welcome anyone who would like to sing. There are no auditions required, just a love of music and an enthusiasm for singing.”

“Allyson is an accomplished director with a talent for bringing out the best in all of us,” says David Vale, a board member who sings bass in the choir. “In the movie West Side Story, Tony and Maria sang the words, ‘There’s a place for us.’ If you want to sing with the Valley Voices, there’s a place for you.”

To be part of the Valley Voices Community Choir, come to the Flathead High School choir room at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29. Regular rehearsals will be on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. There is a $45 fee to cover music and other expenses.
