Specialty crop grants

The Montana Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for over $3 million in federal funding available through the Specialty Crop Block Grant (SCBG) program.

The purpose of the SCBG program is to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in Montana. Eligible projects include improving efficiency and sustainability of specialty crop industries, research, education, developing new and improved varieties, improving the capacity of the distribution chain, enhancing food safety, pest, and disease control. 

Grant proposals are due to the Montana Department of Agriculture by 5 p.m. March 8. For more information, visit agr.mt.gov/SpecialtyCropBlockGrants or email scbg@mt.gov.


Made in Montana award

Nominations are being taken for the 2024 Made in Montana Retailer of the Year. The award recognizes a Made in Montana retail store that consistently and enthusiastically supports Montana producers through mentoring and retailing Made in Montana products. 

Made in Montana asks for nominations from members, chambers of commerce, economic development agencies, customers, tourism partners, peers and others. The award is presented during Wholesale Day, March 8, at the Made in Montana Tradeshow.

Cybersecurity webinar

The Montana APEX and Project Spectrum will hold a virtual webinar on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon to learn more about cybersecurity requirements for Federal Contracting. Project Spectrum is a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) recognized cybersecurity awareness initiative offering resources, training, and tools toward increasing cybersecurity awareness for businesses.
