Randy Dorrington, 73

| January 21, 2024 12:00 AM

On Jan. 13, Randy Dorrington peacefully lost his battle with cancer.

He was born in 1950 to Bill and Rosemary Dorrington, in Libby, joining his older brother, Andy.

Randy’s childhood was centered around the outdoors. He could be found tearing around town on his bike, swimming at Crystal Lake, sledding at Ski Dale Hill, skiing at Turner Mountain, or hunting and fishing with family and friends.

He graduated from Libby High School with the fond memory of winning the State AA Football Championship his senior year.

He went on to Western Montana College, graduating with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art and Business Education. He became quite an accomplished potter, selling his ceramics to pay his rent.

It was here he met and married Brenda Meredith. They had 52 wonderful years together while living in four states, raising two remarkable children, working and traveling.

It was a big decision to resign his job and move to Kalispell, but one they never regretted.

He made many buddies with whom he golfed, skied, and rafted the rivers. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Friends of the Library.

He was the most patient, nurturing, loving, husband, Dad and Pops ( his favorite title).

Survivors are his wife, Brenda; his daughter, Darbi and son-in-law Nate Linder and their children Libby, Isabelle and Brit. His son and daughter-in-law are Ben and Erika Dorrington, whose children are Logan and Derek (D. J.). His brother and sister-in-law are Andy and Linda Dorrington. His in-laws are Bob and Sue Meredith, Jim and Karan Meredith, Dave and Cathy Meredith and Carolyn and Wayne Boese. He is, also, survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 23 great-nieces and great-nephews.

We are eternally grateful to the oncology department, infusion nurses and Shannon and Dave from Hospice.

Memorial Service will be at Risen Christ Church, 65 W. Evergreen Drive at 11 a.m. on Jan. 29.

Private family inurnment will follow.
