Brave Brawlers down Hellgate
Flathead continued their strong run of success in dual-meets with a 71-3 win over Missoula Hellgate at Flathead High Tuesday. The Braves won their first 11 matches of the night in front of the home crowd.
In the third match of the night Sawyer Troupe earned a pin over Jayden Friesen at 285 pounds for the Brave Brawlers and Dayton Naldrett followed that up with a pin at 113 pounds over Oliver Caton.
“The Brave Brawlers were on fire tonight hitting a variety of techniques and pushing the pace in every match! We really just love wrestling at home in front of our fans!” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said.
The Braves lone loss of the night came at 160 pounds with Dillon Gunluck edging Colton Kuka in a tight match.
“We only lost one match tonight but it was a battle at 160 lbs with Kuka giving up near fall at the buzzer. We are super proud of him and this team, they are a very special group!” Thompson added.
Daniel Evert, Dane Lake and Lane Chivers also earned pins for the Brave Brawlers to round out a strong showing on the mat in the win.
The Flathead girls took on Hellgate as well at Flathead High with Bravettes winning 66-6. There were 11 forfeits on the night and Lucile Libby picked up a win via fall for the Bravettes to close out the meet.
