Wolfpack boys go 2-0 on Senior Day

The Glacier Wolfpack racked up the pins early and late Friday afternoon, taking duals from Helena Capital and Helena High on Senior Day for the wrestling program.

The Pack won their last five matches — two by forfeit — to catch and pass Helena  for a 45-30 victory. Earlier they thumped the Capital Bruins 54-18.

“Super proud of the team tonight, we were just hammers on top,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “Racked up a lot of pins and made a big difference in the duals. It feels good to bear Capital by that margin; the Western AA coaches had them ahead of us in the rankings and I thought that was a good statement win, and an awesome way to send off our amazing class of 10 seniors that we will miss greatly.”

Capital led the dual 30-15 before pins from Shannon Hughes (160 pounds), Mark Ahner (182) and Noah Horn (285) put Glacier in front. Ahner and Horn had pins in both duals, while Hughes went 2-0 on the day.

Aiden Sweat had pins in both duals, at 103; Garrett Bosch had two wins on the day at 120. Kaleb Shine had two pins at 145 as well.

Tristan Hall (205) and Wlcome Chapman (138) had pins against Capital. 

“One more big match against Butte tomorrow (Saturday) before post season next week,” Dankers said.
