State plans resurfacing project for Kalispell Bypass
The Montana Department of Transportation will undertake a large road improvement project to resurface about four miles of U.S. 93 Alternate, commonly known as the Kalispell Bypass.
Public comment is sought on the project, tentatively scheduled for 2025, which aims to extend the service life of the roadway. Work is expected to begin at the Ashley Creek bridge and extend to the intersection of U.S. 93 with West Reserve Drive.
Proposed work includes crack sealing, full width seal and cover (chip seal), and fog seal of the proposed stretch. Specific tasks include milling the existing bridge ends and and applying a new overlay; chip sealing and fog sealing the interchange ramps at U.S. 2, Three Mile Drive, Four Mile Drive and Old Reserve Drive; upgrading pavement markings; and fog sealing shared-use paths.
No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed, officials said.
