A Lakers finish 2-2 in Palouse

PULLMAN, Wash. — A 7-3 loss to Moundtime out of Hillsboro, Oregon, on Saturday concluded the Kalispell A Lakers’ competition at the WSU Summer Palouse Tournament. 

The Lakers (23-19) went 2-2 in the Palouse, with a 7-6 win over Gonzaga Prep AAA and a 3-1 verdict over Merchants 16U on Thursday. They fell to the Northwest Bandits on Friday. 

Against Moundtime, the Lakers fell behind 5-0 and 7-1, before pushing a couple runs in the seventh, using a walk, a base hit by Tanner Vojta, an error and a wild pitch.  

Kalispell managed four hits in the game, two of them by Tait Orme, who had a double. Hunter Glidden doubled and scored on a passed ball in the fifth inning a well. 

Kyler Croft and Beau McEwen split the pitching duties, combining to allow six hits, seven walks and three earned runs. McEwen through four innings, with three walks, two hits and two runs. allowed. He fanned one. 

In their win over Merchants 16U out of Seattle, the Lakers broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning when Croft walked and came all the way when the Merchants committed two errors on Glidden’s bunt.  

Glidden moved up on a walk to B Holzer and came in on D Wink’s RBI single. 

That made a winner of pitcher George Schwan, who allowed four hits and three walks, fanning three. He worked around a walk in the seventh inning, getting a double play on the way to a complete game. 

The A Lakers’ next action is Wednesday at home against the Bitterroot Red Sox, at 5 p.m.
