Law roundup: Man whiles away summer evening shooting the sky

A lone man sitting in a lawn chair in Hungry Horse allegedly shot a handgun in the air repeatedly.

Reckless knuckleheads shooting off fireworks in an empty field near the bypass started a fire that an area resident told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was growing rapidly. A vehicle was allegedly seen speeding away from the flames.

An antsy Bigfork resident allegedly kept telling dispatch he was going to shoot a black bear that was in his front yard and getting into the garbage despite being told multiple times to stay inside.

Whitefish neighbors were nervous after reportedly hearing explosions happening at all hours of the day, for days on end, and weren’t sure if it was fireworks or gunshots.

Law enforcement tracked down a boat that reportedly leaked two quarts of drive oil in a Bigfork bay. The spill was contained.

A man who was allegedly swearing as he walked in a Kalispell road “got crazier” when sirens grew louder and closer and fired a gun.

A man allegedly headbutted another man in Kalispell.

Someone calling from Bigfork complained about loud music and blamed it on a bar, claiming they were “doing it on purpose” and wanted deputies to talk to them. They were advised there was no noise ordinance in the county.

Meanwhile, someone looking for peace and quiet in Whitefish called deputies complaining about partiers in a neighboring short-term rental who were allegedly playing loud music, yelling at each other, swearing and hitting something, which sounded like wood being chopped. The resident tried asking them to quiet down earlier in the night but the partying only seemed to intensify.

Someone put out water for a skittish “king-sized” poodle with a missing eye that wandered near a Kalispell bar. They said it seemed to be bleeding from an ear.

A stranger reportedly called a man six to seven times and sent texts threatening to kill him and his family.
