Camp Festival Amadeus hosts two concerts

| July 4, 2024 12:00 AM

Camp Festival Amadeus will hold two concerts to showcase the work accomplished during the week-long camp.

The free concerts at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center are July 10 at 7 p.m. for the faculty concert and the student concert is July 11 at noon.

North Valley Music School hosts Camp Festival Amadeus, a chamber orchestra music camp for intermediate to advanced string students entering seventh through 12th grades.

This year, NVMS saw a record number of campers and they are excited to share their polished pieces.

This year’s faculty includes Summer Boggess, Griffin Browne, Michael Certalic, Laura Dalbey, Ryan Davis, Ali and Sara Schultz-Levesque. Jenanne Solberg is the CFA artistic director and Deidre Corson is the camp director.

Established in 2008, Camp Festival Amadeus matches high-quality instruction from experienced musicians with youth violin, viola, cello, and bass students from across the state and the country.

Historically, the camp has been held simultaneously with the Glacier Symphony’s Festival Amadeus. This year, it will be held during Symphony Night at Rebecca Farm. Camp faculty is composed of Glacier Symphony musicians. Each day, campers participate in orchestra sessions, small ensembles, sectionals, and elective classes.

Campers attend workshops and interactive presentations and there are opportunities for additional private lessons. Fun camp activities include a student recital, a Whitefish Lake picnic outing, performing at the Whitefish Farmers Market, and a final activity such as rafting or water slides. The camp culminates with the free student concert.

To make the week possible, the camp relies heavily on sponsorships, donations, and volunteers. To donate, visit www.northvalleymusicschool.org
