BOZEMAN — Friday went much better for the Kalispell Lakers, who picked up two wins at the Bozeman AA Invitational Legion baseball tournament.

To start the day Ostyn Brennan tripled, doubled and drove in three runs while pitcher Jackson Heino shook off a rocky first inning as the Lakers (34-16) beat the Calgary Trappers 13-2.

In their second game the Lakers’ Michael Owens broke a 4-4 tie with a sixth-inning RBI single in what became an 8-5 win over Nampa, Idaho.

The Lakers, who lost Thursday 11-5 to Pocatello Post 4, next play at 8 a.m. Saturday against the CBC Post 2 Oilers out of Casper, Wyoming.

Lakers 13, Trappers 2

After Brennan doubled and scored on Carter Schlegel’s single in the first inning, Calgary pushed across two runs thanks to two hit batters and two throwing errors charged to Heino.

From there, though, Heino was in command: He allowed two hits, two walks and no earned runs in five innings (the game was called under the mercy rule). He fanned five.

Oscar Kallis knotted the score at 2-2 with an RBI single in the second and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Owens added a two-run single in the third for the Lakers, and Luke Nikunen’s RBI triple in the fourth made it 8-2. Owens hit a leadoff double to spark a four-run fifth inning; Brennan’s three-run triple was the big hit there.
