A Lakers trip Twins
WHITEFISH — Cale Brink and George Schwan combined on a seven-hitter, and the Kalispell A Lakers broke ahead in the late innings to beat the Glacier Twins 5-2 in Legion baseball Wednesday.
It was the first game of a Class A doubleheader; the second game had not been decided at press time.
The Twins broke ahead 2-0 but the Lakers (29-22) got those back on Max Schara’s two-run single in the second inning.
In the fifth Brady Buckmaster hit a leadoff single and eventually came around on two errors — one on a pickoff, and another on Tait Orme’s ground ball. The Lakers led 3-2, and got RBI singles by Bryce Quinnell and Kyler Croft in the sixth.
Brink went six innings, allowing seven hits and three walks with one strikeout. He had to work around two baserunners in the sixth; Schwan did the same in the seventh.
Kellen Kroger went five innings on the hill for the Twins (22-8), fanning six, and also collected three hits. Maddox Muller and Michael Miller both hit doubles.
