Three stories are still needed to round out the next Flathead Story Concert scheduled Sept. 17 at Sacred Waters Brewing in Kalispell.

Inspired by “The Moth Radio Hour” and PBS’ “Stories for the Stage,” Flathead Story Concerts feature pre-selected personal experience essays, memoir excerpts and short fiction by Flathead Valley locals that are told live.

There is no fee to submit a story for review. This year’s themes are ‘“All in the Family” and “Firsts and Lasts.” Submissions should be about 900 to 1,200 words in length — or able to be read in six to eight minutes.

Six inspiring and surprising stories will be shared at the free September concert, which is the final show for 2024.

All guidelines and information about the event are listed at https://FlatheadStoryConcerts.wootick.com. People may also contact concert host and curator Barbara Schiffman at 747-238-0038 or email her at story23fvcc@gmail.com to discuss a story or get more information.

“Some of our favorites have come from non-writer Flathead residents who bravely shared their inspiring personal experiences,” story coach and curator Glenn Schiffman said.
