Law roundup: Bitter father-in-law threatens to ‘get him’
A man’s father-in-law allegedly pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him, saying he would “get him when he least expected it.” The man told the Kalispell Police Department that the in-law was upset about the handling of a civil dispute over a firearm in his divorce settlement.
The library manager called the police when a 55-year-old “gentleman” allegedly touched female patrons inappropriately. He was permanently banned from the property.
One afternoon, a parks employee called officers asking them to impose a 30-day ban on three people with a shopping cart and excessive belongings who had reportedly camped out in the Woodland Park Lagoon Pavilion since the morning. They were moved along.
A school employee allegedly requested extra patrol after finding clothes and belongings around the building, noting a lot of transient activity around the school located by an abandoned property.
A woman allegedly left a poodle in a vehicle parked in the sun, in 90-degree weather, with one window down while she went shopping. The responding officer found the dog lying down, panting, and spoke to the dog owner about the city’s animal cruelty ordinance. She pointed out that she left a window open, and probably resentful of the implication, said the officer didn’t know how much the dog was pampered. The officer countered that people who care about their dogs don’t leave them in cars when the temperature is 90 degrees.
A dog on the lam evaded a passerby’s attempts to catch it by jumping into a pond.
A man showed up at the police department claiming he was sent by the "welfare department” to report that a tenant was “abusing the welfare system,” but provided vague information. He was satisfied it was logged and was counseled by an officer.
Officers responded to a report of a woman about 40 years old who was in the street waving her arms and jumping between cars while another woman yelled at her from the sidelines. The yelling woman then threw a suitcase in a yard and went into a house. The woman in the street reportedly ignored an officer’s order to stop and kept walking and went inside the house where the pair refused to answer the door.
Two men fought in Depot Park and one threatened to kill the other.
