Douglas Smith, 71

Douglas Bryan Smith, 71 of Kalispell, passed away at the end of March. He was born in New York and was raised in Minnesota.  

His parents were Richard and Dorothy Smith who preceded him in death. 

He is survived by his wife, Sara; daughter, Laura, and his brothers, David and Brad, and their families. His cat, Daisy, survives also. 

Doug had been a Flathead resident for 24 years. He worked at KRMC, Stream, McDonald’s, Sporting Goods, Walmart, and the Salvation Army thrift store, before retiring 2 years ago. 

Doug will be remembered by his doctors as a “miracle man” as he survived 2 malignant brain tumors, blood clots and a stroke. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 19, at the Nazarene Church. A meal will follow. Please wear bright colors, especially Hawaiian. Donations are encouraged to the Parkinson’s or Dementia Foundations.
