Darel Hansen, 85

Darel Michael Hansen, 85 of Kalispell, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Logan Health in Kalispell.

He was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Kalispell, the son of Clareance and Grace (Elsass) Hansen. The family moved to Kalispell, and he received his education there, graduating from Flathead High School in 1957.

He married Jean Marsh on May 14, 1961, in Kalispell. Mike and Jean built their home and their family; Whitney in 1962, Scot 1964, and Robb in 1965. Mike and Jean celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2021.

He grew up in the timber industry and worked Plum Creek as head saw filer up until he retired in 2003

He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed going on many adventures up to Alaska. He enjoyed having family gatherings and birthday celebrations.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren something fierce. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Jean Hansen; his son, Robb Hansen; and brother-in-law, John Doble

He is survived by his children; daughter, Whitney Hansen (Tom); son, Scott Hansen (Tana), Robb's partner, Misty Anderson; grandchildren, Ashley Torrey and Allan Gapp, Conrad and Maryna, Christine "Chrissy" Hansen, Hayden Hansen, Austin and Harla Hansen, Shanlee Hansen, Nakota Hansen, Ashley Hadley, and Leya Storksen; great-grandchildren, Raigyn and Ethen Torrey, Reid Hansen; sister, Pat Doble; nephew, Jon Leonard of Eureka; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
