Twins offense powers sweep of Libby
Jake McIntyre homered in the first game and Nolan Amerman hit a grand slam in the second as the Glacier Twins swept a Class A Legion doubleheader from Libby Tuesday, 19-3 and 15-2.
In the first game Kellen Kroger doubled, tripled and drove in five runs in Glacier’s 12-run first inning; he finished with six RBIs. Maddox Muller had a double and four RBIs; McIntyre had four RBIs, including a two-run homer in the third. McIntyre scored four runs, and Kroger and Stevyn Andrachick crossed three times each.
The Twins’ 14 hits and 19 runs were more than enough for the pitching tandem of Trenton Derosa and Reed Boyer. Derosa threw the first three innings and Boyer the last two; each struck out three Loggers.
In the second game Amerman hit an RBI triple to put the Twins (13-2) up 6-0 in the second inning, and his slam in the fourth made it 15-0. He also scored four times.
McIntyre had two doubles and scored twice; Andrachick scored three runs.
Michael Miller went the distance on the hill — both games ended after five innings under the mercy rule — and allowed one hit, two walks and two unearned runs. He fanned seven.
Ian Thom had Libby’s lone hit in the second game; Isaac Lamere had two hits in the opener for the Loggers.
