Ronald 'Ron' Jerome Alstad, 65

Ronald "Ron" Alstad, 65, passed away at home Aug. 27, 2022, after a short battle with bladder cancer. He was born in Kalispell, on Sept. 5, 1956, to Orlando (Ole) and Dorothy Alstad. He attended Montford, Fairview, Fair-Mont Egan School and Flathead High School, graduating in 1974. 

Ron worked at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Plant from 1976 to 2000. After retiring from CFAC he began working at the Rainbow Bar, and then Passmore Farms. 

He loved fishing, hunting, camping, boating, playing pool, cribbage, cards, and darts. He also loved sitting at the Echo Lake Cabin with his friends and family playing cards, drinking beer, and watching the beautiful views.     

Ron enjoyed his last years of life peacefully at his daughter and sons-in-law’s cabin on Mud Lake, watching the wildlife and gorgeous views of the lake and mountains.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Dorothy; his daughter Christy’s, half-sister, Casey Faye Armstrong Wood; and his nephews, Clayton and Jordan Alstad.   

He is survived by his daughter, Christy (Chris) Gross; grandchildren, Will and Caitlynn Gross; sisters, Linda (Ed) Benson, and Carol Vish; nieces, Bobbi Bonner, and Lori (Ward) Abernathy; nephews, David (Roseé) Benson and Adam (Jazmin) Vish; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.  

A shared memorial/celebration of life for Al and Ron Alstad will be held on Friday, July 12, from 6-9 p.m., at Atanaha Event Center, 29048 Broken Leg Rd., Bigfork. Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to: Taz7066@yahoo.com.
