Roger Wayne Siblerud, 84

| June 30, 2024 12:00 AM

Roger Wayne Siblerud, 84, passed peacefully on June 15, 2024, the day before Father's Day on the same day, many years later as his beloved son Patrick Siblerud passed.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1940, in Kalispell, to Hazel and Harold Siblerud and his sister, Donna.

Roger attended Kalispell Schools and graduated from Flathead High School, class of 58.

He enjoyed sports and band and every aspect of growing up in Montana.

Roger married his high school sweetheart Marlene Rasmussen August 25, 1960.

He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1962. During this time daughter Kelly and son Dan were born. The family moved after a few years back to Kalispell and son Patrick was born. Roger went to work at Kelly Main Street Furniture alongside his father-in-law Art Rasmussen the owner, until his retirement in 2001.

He had a giving spirit and was involved with Kalispell Rotary Club, Kalispell Jaycees, Big Brothers and Sisters, and the United Way.

Roger had a tremendous sense of adventure and lived a very vibrant life. He loved his family and took them on incredible adventures. He enjoyed his children’s sports and talents, spending lots of time at the family home on Flathead Lake and skiing Big Mountain.

Roger and Marlene also got to travel the world. They hosted many parties, family reunions, and were very involved in their community, church, and had many dear friends. Roger was an avid hunter, trailblazer, and all-around daredevil.

Flying into Schaeffer Meadows for fishing, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Jewel Basin, endless and last-minute raft trips, hikes, skiing, water skiing, sailing, scuba diving, golfing, boating, floating, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, fishing, and horsing around were a few of his favorite things.

He was always up to do anything, and there was no downtime when he was around. Roger also had an entrepreneurial side, and after work could be found running heavy equipment, building roads, and using dynamite, to build his vision of Best View Estates (nearly always in his dress clothes). He had many other ideas and brought them all to fruition and was fearless. During this stage is when Patrick died in the Bob Marshall Wilderness at the age of 25. Patrick’s son Andrew was five years old. Roger and Marlene loved their grandchildren and were always a huge part of their lives. They got to do more traveling and lived life to the fullest until they were separated by the unexpected death of Marlene in 2009. He continued to do it all and followed his dreams, until the very end. He was a very exciting father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Roger was preceded in death by twin daughters, son Patrick, wife Marlene, sister Donna, and parents, Harold and Hazel Siblerud.

Roger is survived by daughter Kelly Siblerud Kennedy (Ken); granddaughters, Nicole and Haley Nelson; son Dan Siblerud (Kelly); grandchildren, Sierra and Logan Siblerud; grandson Andrew Siblerud (son of Patrick); and numerous loved relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Lakeside Quick Response Unit to whom he held in high regard for their awesome gifts and talents. 201 Bills Road, Lakeside, Montana 59922.

A celebration of life for Roger will be held from 4-9 p.m. on Aug. 4, at the Somers Mansion, 60 Lesley Ave., Somers, Montana.
