Carol 'Tootie' Myhre, 72
Carol “Tootie” Clintworth Myhre, born Dec.18, 1951, died peacefully at her home Feb. 17, 2024, at the age of 72. Her beloved springer spaniel, Piper, and her longtime friends, Mike Ward and Aurelia Ramsey, were with her in her final hours and brought her great comfort.
Tootie was born in Olympia, Washington to Jean Craig and Richard Clintworth. She was raised by her father and stepmother Clarice. She spent much of her youth at the Olympia Golf and Country Club where she learned to be an excellent golfer, a sport she loved and excelled at for many years. She was an amazing gardener and a fabulous cook.
Tootie graduated from Olympia High School in 1969, attended Western Washington State College and worked at the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind after graduation.
After many years as life partners, she officially married the love of her life, Eric John Myhre, at their home on Flathead Lake near Bigfork on Sept. 19, 1992. Tootie and Eric divided their time between their homes in Bigfork and Carefree, Arizona. They shared a love of golf, Flathead Lake, wooden boats and art. They had an extensive collection of fine art and incorporated it into their daily living.
Tootie was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Clarice Clintworth; brothers, Gary and Harley Clintworth; and her husband, Eric Myhre.
She is survived by her birth mother, Jean Craig; brother, Jim (Gena) Clintworth; half-sister, Debra Craig; sister-in-law, Debra Clintworth; nephews, Ryan and Tyler Clintworth; and her dear friends, Mike Ward, Sarah Ward, Dana Anderson, Mike and Dawn Lopach, Steve, Aurelia and Erik (who called her Grandma T) Ramsey.
Tootie was small but mighty. Her personality was fierce in the most endearing way. She left a handprint on the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held this summer. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
