Ford, Goracke lead Montana State past Weber State

BOISE, Idaho — Robert Ford had 27 points and Brian Goracke chipped in 25 points of his own to lead No. 5 Montana State past No. 4 Weber State 91-82 at the Big Sky basketball tournament in Boise. Montana State trailed 34-25 at halftime and Weber State was up 50-38 with five minutes off the clock in the second half when the Bobcats (15-17) went on a 13-0 run capped off by a Ford 3-pointer that made things 51-50. 

The Bobcats took the lead for good with 6:37 left in the game when Montana State’s Eddie Turner III hit a 3-pointer to make things 66-63. Turner finished with 12 points and a game-high 3 steals.

Weber State’s Dillon Jones, fresh off winning the Big Sky MVP, had 19 points in the loss. Blaise Threatt had a team-high 20 points for the Wildcats (20-12) and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Next up for the Bobcats is a Tuesday matchup in the semifinals against No. 10 Sacramento State at 6:30 p.m. The Hornets upset top-seeded Eastern Washington 74-69 Sunday to punch their ticket to the semis.
