Richard C. Butler, 84, passed away Feb. 27, 2024, in Whitefish. Richard was born on March 10,1939, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to Timothy Leo Butler and Julia Bailey.

He retired from the Department of Water Resources in California and moved to Montana in 2003. He was a volunteer at the Marion Fire Department. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Betty Butler; children, Greg Butler of San Antonio, Texas; and Valerie Butler of Sacramento, California.
