C-Falls outscores Polson 18-10 in 9
POLSON — Down 8-1 early, Columbia Falls scored nine straight runs, and then tacked on eight in the ninth inning to claim an extra-inning, 18-10 baseball win over Polson Tuesday.
Connor Venezio drove in three runs for the Wildcats (2-0), while Cody Schweikert had three hits and scored three times, and Dominick Young scored three runs.
The eighth inning saw C-Falls put together four hits with four walks and two Polson errors — all after two were out. AC Chilson’s RBI single gave the Wildcats an 11-10 lead, but the runs kept coming: Kellen Kroger had a two-run single, and Venezio and Matthew Mitts drove in runs with bases-loaded walks.
Zak Muzquiz had three runs batted in for Polson, and Cole Haggard had two hits and two RBIs while Hunter Emerson scored three times. All three players had RBI singles in a five-run second inning as the Pirates (2-1) appeared to take command.
After they fell behind, Muzquiz hit a sacrifice fly that scored Emerson in the seventh to knot the game at 10-all.
The game featured 24 walks, 13 issued by Wildcat pitchers. Dayne Tu recorded four outs in relief for Columbia Falls, fanning two, and Dawson Juntunen threw the last three innings, allowing one hit and one unearned run while walking two and fanning three. He got the win.
Eureka 17, Thompson Falls-Noxon 0
EUREKA — AJ Truman hit a home run and threw three no-hit innings to lead Eureka to a 17-0 run rule victory over Thompson Falls-Noxon in high school baseball Tuesday.
Truman reached base twice and drove in five runs in the victory for the Lions. Tristen Butts added two hits and a walk in three plate appearances as Eureka scored seven runs in the first inning.
The Red Devils struggled at the plate and in the field, striking out seven times and committing seven errors aiding the Eureka run barrage.
